BIOGRAPHY:
Gina Torres' first love as an actress was the theater. The energy and emotion of her performances encouraged her to pursue a career in film and television. The last of three children from a Cuban family, she received early musical training at New York's High School of Music and Art where she learned classical, jazz and gospel singing, developing a high level of vocal technique. She began her on-screen career in 1992 with an appearance in an episode of the series Law & Order and in 1994 in a leading role in the series M.A.N.T.I.S. She made her first film appearance in 1996 in the movie Dark Angel. Between 1996 and 2003 she continued her career in the series Xena, Hercules, Cleopatra 2525, Angel, Flyer fly, Alias and 24 h chrono. From 2003, the cinema takes more importance with leading roles in Matrix Reloaded and Revolution in 2003 alongside her husband Laurence Fishburne, Hairshow in 2004, and Serinity in 2005. In 2007, Gina Torres played the role of Chris Rock's wife in the film I think I love my wife. Her next film to be released in 2008 is Don't let me drown, a romance set against the backdrop of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
