Med Hondo, whose real name is "Mohamed Abid Medoun Hondo", was born in 1936 in Mauritania, he moved to France in the 1960s to work as a dock worker, then as a cook and enrolled in drama classes. In 1968, he made his film "Soleil O" with a very small budget. Selected in Cannes, he was then banned for diplomatic reasons in various countries. He is also an actor, director, producer and distributor.
