BIOGRAPHY:
Originally from Guadeloupe, JM Martial was born in Madagascar. He started acting at the age of 33 but made his first steps as an actor in 1977 in "Moon Raker", a James Bond, while he was still a student... From 1978 to 1985 he lived in Guyana and then moved back to France.
He is invited to the Comédie Française and plays: Le marchand de Venise de SHAKESPEARE, Le Balcon de Jean GENET at the Théâtre de l'Odéon. 1992 He is invited to La Scala in Milan and plays in Oberon by Karl Maria WEBER. He works with Jean-Luc LAGARCE, Gabriel GARANT, Luca RONCONNI, Lluis PASQUAL,...
Concerned about establishing a link with the West Indies, he plays in Martinique with Michèle Césaire, teaches theatre in French Guiana and Guadeloupe, at the Artchipel (national stage) in Basse-Terre (Philippe Adrien's assistant).
In 1997, he created the company L'Autre Souffle. In 1998 he adapted, co-produced and directed Athol FUGARD's Liens de sang at the Artchipel Scène Nationale de Guadeloupe in Basse-Terre before resuming the show for 56 performances at the Cartoucherie de Vincennes and on tour.
