He is best known for his role in the television series "The Carmichael Show" and for his stand-up performances. Carmichael grew up in Winston-Salem and began his career in stand-up comedy at the age of 20. He quickly gained fame for his unique style of dark and provocative humor, tackling topics such as race, politics, relationships and society in general. In 2008, Carmichael was selected to participate in the "New Faces" at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, which brought him increased recognition in the entertainment industry. He has also made notable appearances on several television shows, including "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" and "Conan." In 2014, Carmichael created and starred in his own sitcom called "The Carmichael Show."
