BIOGRAPHY:
After training in music and dance, Jada went on to pursue a career as an actress and made her debut on the small screen in 1991 in the series “A different world”. In 1993, she gets her first big role in the Hughes brothers’ movie “Menace II society” with Larenz Tate, who will be in the superb movie “The Inkwell” a few years later. Then she followed several less noticed productions, to come back to the forefront in 1996 by giving the line to Eddie Murphy in “Le Professeur Foldingue”. A rising Afro-American star, she made her mark in “The Price to Pay” or “The Very Black Show” by Spike Lee, while making a detour through animation by lending her voice to the American version of “Princess Mononoké”. At the same time, Jada Pinkett (who became Jada Pinkett-Smith in 1997 through her marriage to Will Smith) tried her hand at directing several music videos including “Just the two of us” and a fashionable clothing line. In 2001, the actress gives for the first time the line to her husband in “Ali” by Michael Mann. Approached at the end of the nineties for the role of Trinity in “Matrix” (Carrie-Anne Moss will finally be preferred to her), Jada Pinkett gets another chance to enter the Matrix in 2001 with the very physical role of Niobe in “Matrix reloaded / Matrix revolutions” and the video game “Enter the Matrix”. |
