Greg Germain

Born on:
21 Dec 1947 , Guadeloupe, France , –

BIOGRAPHY:

From the age of 5, Greg Germain used to regularly accompany his mother to the theater. Later, he would frequent the dark rooms of his grandfather’s movie theater, which he owned at the time. It was therefore quite logical that he began putting on his first plays with his classmates despite his parents’ wish for him to attend law school. Greg Germain gave up his career as a lawyer and began his artistic career alongside Jean-Christophe Averty. He then took part in the production of one of Melvin Van Peebles’ works, “La fête de Harlem”. He also does theater with Antoine Bourseiller, and plays in a dozen films, from Borsalino & Co. (1974) with Alain Delon has an appearance alongside Roger Moore in Moonraker in (1979). But what will make him known to the French public is his performance in the TV series written by Bernard Kouchner, “Médecins de nuit”. He will play the main role of a doctor during 36 episodes. Still confined by the directors to stereotypical roles of men of color in French cinema, his relationship with the big and small screen has become somewhat distorted. This will not prevent him from joining Med Hondo for the second time in the film by Pascal Légitimus Antilles sur Seine (2000) with Thierry desRoses and to make an appearance in 2003 in But Who Killed Pamela Rose? in the role of Agent Johnson.
