BIOGRAPHY:
Mary Jane Blige, started with music at a young age, she was the lead singer in the church choir she attended and at age 7 she won a song contest performing Aretha Franklin's Respect.
Mary J Blige has also successfully transitioned to television and film, with supporting roles in films such as Prison Song (2001), Rock of Ages (2012), Betty and Coretta (2013), Black Nativity (2013), her breakthrough role as Oscar and Golden Globe nominee Florence Jackson in Mudbound (2017), and her appearance as jazz singer Dinah Washington in the biopic Respect (2021). In 2019, she plays the role of Cha-Cha in the first season of the Netflix TV series The Umbrella Academy.
