BIOGRAFÍA:
Nacida y criada en Detroit, Michigan, Courtney asistió a Harvard y se graduó en historia. Fue allí donde se interesó por el teatro, apareciendo en varias producciones teatrales y convirtiéndose en miembro de la Compañía Shakespeare de Boston.
Después de graduarse, Courtney entró en la Escuela de Drama de Yale, donde actuó en la primera representación de la obra de August Wilson, "Fences". Cuando la obra se estrenó en Broadway, Courtney fue nominada a un premio Tony, ganó un premio del mundo del teatro y el premio Clarence Derwent.
