Black Indians follows fabulous characters from New Orleans for a year. They’re Black Indians. They are among the black tribes that march in their neighborhoods on the fringe of the official carnival, dazzling in their magnificent costumes of pearls and feathers . By the time the movie starts, Carnival is over. The Black Indians are already getting ready for next year’s. A year goes by, made of preparations, vigils, practices, rituals, teachings but also fights for their own rights. They dream, design their future costumes while they dismantle the previous ones. During these preparations, the Black Indians of Carnival transport us through their stories, their songs, their dances, their creative energy, in a passionate relationship with their culture.
